News consumption by WhatsApp and its risks

A November 2019 survey, carried out by DataSenado, points out that the main communication channel used by participants nowadays is WhatsApp, with 79% of usage.

And how does it affect us?

The instant messaging channel, fast and practical, is in the hands of almost everyone. Without restrictions, it can be a vehicle through which all types of content are delivered, whether they are positive, negative, fake news or violent themes.

Other media cited in the survey, such as television and news sites, even with headlines, calls and negative news, still go through publication filters and sieves about violating usage policies.

But what about WhatsApp, who controls it? Nobody!

It is up to us to check and block materials without reliable sources, not to propagate videos, photos and audios with violent and false themes or that can denigrate someone’s image.

If this is one of our main channels for knowledge, work and entertainment, let us be part of the “Non-violence” army.
